BATF "Don't Lie For The Other Guy" Campaign The "Don't Lie For The Other Guy" National Campaign to prevent the illegal purchase of firearms was launched on July 27, 2000.
This cooperative effort was developed during meetings between BATF, National Shooting Sports Foundation, National Coalition of Firearms Retailers and the Texas Gun Dealers Association. TGDA past presidents, Bill Carter and Joe McBride, provided the Gun Dealers' insight into the dealer kits, brochure, and press release.
Gun Dealers are now requested by the BATFE to go beyond the law in following the "Don't Lie For The Other Guy" guidelines.
